Limits / Watchouts

Google Stitch is in preview as of mid-2026 — verify availability at stitch.withgoogle.com before following these steps. Claude Code cannot add complex animations, advanced responsive layouts, or native platform behaviour to a Stitch export. Scope your feature description to data wiring and business logic, not visual polish.

The Problem

Most people with an app idea get stuck at the design-to-code gap. Stitch removes the blank canvas problem for UI. Claude Code removes the boilerplate problem for logic. Neither tool alone gets you to a working app — together they cover the full stack from visual to functional.

Workflow Steps

Go to stitch.withgoogle.com — free, no card required

Describe your app UI in detail: a task dashboard with sidebar project list, kanban board, cards with title and due date, dark header with user avatar

Stitch generates multiple variants — pick the closest, refine with follow-up prompts

Export the HTML/CSS code from Stitch

Open Claude Code in your terminal: cd into a new project folder and run claude

Paste the Stitch export and prompt: this is my frontend scaffold — add a Node Express backend with SQLite, wire the board to real data, add drag-and-drop state, make it deployable to Vercel

Claude reads the Stitch code, identifies components, builds the backend, connects everything

Deploy: vercel --prod

Prompt Example

This is my UI scaffold exported from Google Stitch: [PASTE STITCH HTML/CSS].
